                                 Beer Manager

An economic and strategical game about the management of a
modern brewery. Take control of the Metersteiner Brewery and lead
      it to success!

countless animations, SVGA-rendered graphics, three computer
opponents, realistic sound effects, online help, mouse controls,
      and much much more...

This file contains basic information about Metersteiner Beer
Manager. Extensive instructions can be read in the game.

                             System Requirements

For the game, you need an IBM-compatible PC with the following
      requirements or better:
      *486SX/25 processor
      *4 MByte RAM
*10 MByte free hard disk space
*SVGA-graphic card with the appropriate monitor
*Microsoft- or Logitech-compatible mouse with the appropriate
       driver
*MS-DOS 5.0 or a compatible system. For example, Windows 3.1,
       Win95, OS2/3.0, DR-DOS or PTS-DOS
In addition, many different sound cards are supported.

                                 Game Start

Metersteiner Beer Manager needs 550 KByte free DOS memory to
start, as well as 3 MByte free XMS memory. On systems with 4
MByte RAM and installed cache programs (e.g. SmartDrive), shut
off these programs or boot your system with a startup disk in
order to have enough available memory. To create a boot disk,
format a disk as a system disk. Then copy both files AUTOEXEC.BAT
and CONFIG.SYS from the hard drive onto this disk. Start an
editor (e.g. EDIT.COM), load the file AUTOEXEC.BAT from the disk
and erase the line starting your cache program. Save the file on
the disk, restart the computer, and boot from the new start disk.

To start the game, set the directory, in which Metersteiner Beer
Manager was installed, with CD, and type in BMANAGER. A typical
start of the program looks like the following:

      CD C:\BMANAGER (press ENTER)
      BMANAGER (press ENTER)

If your system runs with Windows 3.1, you should first leave
Windows so that Metersteiner Beer Manager can take better
advantage of your system's performance and runs more smoothly.

In Windows 95, start Metersteiner Beer Manager from the
Explorer. Should problems arise, start a DOS task, run your mouse
driver, and the program should run as above written.

At the first program start after the installation the program to
configure the sound is started. If you wish to change the
settings for the sound afterwards, start SETSOUND.BAT.

                               Distribution

Metersteiner Beer Manager may be distributed as per the above
conditions. Simply copy the files INSTALL.EXE, BMPACK1.BMD and
BMPACK2.BMD from the data directory. These three files contain
all necessary files for the installation of the game on another
system, but, after succesful installation, are under no
      circumstances allowed to be deleted.

Ideally, copy all three files into one directory, for example,
onto a SyQuest disk, an ED-disk, or a Zip-disk. On the desired
computer, simply start INSTALL.EXE and Metersteiner Beer Manager
will be automatically installed onto its hard drive.

If you want to transfer Metersteiner Beer Manager with the use of
3.5" HD disks to another system, obtain two empty and formatted
disks, open the copy menu in the game and follow the given
instructions. The game will be automatically packed onto the
disks by copying the files INSTALL.EXE, BMPACK1.BMD and
BMPACK2.BMD. On the desired computer, simply start INSTALL.EXE
from the first disk and follow the given instructions. If
disk problems should arise on the target system, you can use
BACKUP.BAT. Obtain two empty and formatted disks and follow the
      instructions on the screen.

As a sysop, pack the three previously mentioned files with your
favorite packer and you have an archive ready to send. If wished,
include the file FILE_ID.DIZ from the DATA directory in your
      mailbox system.
