CHAMProgramming is proud to present MazeMaker, a unique feature of CHAMP
Ms. Pac-em that allows you to create up to 128 different mazes.
We hope you enjoy the results.

| SELECING MAZES |
-------------------

To edit or create a maze using CHAMP's MazeMaker, choose Select Mazes
from the Game Options menu. You cannot choose Select Mazes during a game.
You must end a game in progress to access the Game Options menu.

Once you've chosen Select Mazes, the Maze Select screen will appear.
The following are the functions you can perform on the Maze Select screen:

Maze Select

Use the left and right arrow keys to select the maze you wish to change or edit.
A white box will highlight the current maze you've selected.

The table below explains the order of mazes for both Classic and CHAMP mode:

			Classic Mode CHAMP Mode

Screen 20 Maze 4
Screen 21 Maze 4
Screen 22 - Repeat Screen 14-21

In Classic Mode, there are four Maze slots, and in CHAMP Mode there are eight slots.
Once you have selected the Maze slot you wish to edit, you can either change the maze
for that slot or bring up the Maze Options.

To change the maze in the slot, use the up and down arrow keys to scroll through the
available mazes until you see the maze you want. To bring up the Maze Options for
the selected maze, press ENTER.

Maze Options

The Maze Options menu is brought up by pressing ENTER on a selected maze in the
Maze Select screen. This menu will perform actions on both the maze and the
Maze Slot selected.

The Maze Options are:

VALID MAZES
-----------

Although the MazeMaker program is very flexible, there are certain restrictions
that must be followed when making a maze. When you attempt to save an invalid maze,
an error message will appear describing the error. You must correct this error
before the program will allow you to save the maze.

These are the types of error messages for invalid mazes:

1) Tunnel too wide: This error occurs when the maze has a tunnel or path which is
more than 1 dot in length (only 1 dot can fit). The cursor will be set to where
the error took place. To correct the error, you must add walls until all tunnels
or paths are 1 dot wide.

2) Dot unreachable: This error occurs when Ms. Pac-em can't reach at least 1 dot
on the screen because the path is block by a wall. To correct the error, you must
remove walls until Ms. Pac-em can reach every dot. You may also remove the dots
that cannot be reached as well.

3) Can't reach goblins: This error occurs if Ms. Pac-em and the ghosts are completely
separated by walls. Note that the Backdoors are not used when validating whether the
Goblins are reachable or not. You must remove walls until Ms. Pac-em can reach the
Goblins.

4) Not enough dots: You must have at least 100 dots on the screen for a valid maze.
To correct the problem, add dots (powerpills included) until there are at least 150 total.
Note that you don't have to have any powerpills, but you cannot have more than 4.

5) No backdoors: There must be at least 1 Backdoor on every maze to allow the prizes to
enter.

6) Backdoor blocked: Both sides of each backdoor must be reachable by Ms. Pacem. You
must remove walls until a clear path is made.

OTHER ERRORS
------------

There are other errors and common practices you may want to follow. Although the program
cannot detect these errors, they may cause serious problems when playing Ms. Pac-em with
an invalid maze:

1) Bad fill: If a wall is added at a improper angle (mostly diagnol) to another wall, the
fill routine may spill into the rest of the maze. To correct this error, click on Undo.
If this doesn't work, remove walls until the error is corrected.

2) Bad angles: Even if an angle doesn't give a bad fill, too many corners can make it
virtually impossible to move around the maze freely. Avoid bumps in the maze and stick
to corners and straightaways.

--------------------
| USING YOUR MAZE |
--------------------

Once your maze is created and valid, click on SAVE. To return to the Select Mazes screen,
click on Exit. You will see your newly created maze in the Maze Slot you previously
selected. Note that you can now go to ANY slot and select your new maze. To test your
maze immediately, put it in Maze Slot 1 and start a new game. Have fun!

NOTE: There is a limit of 128 mazes which can be stored at once. If you get an error that
the program cannot create another maze, you must delete a maze to free up a slot.
