       1. Insert disk into your CD drive.
       2. Change directory to your CD drive.
       3. Type install from your command prompt.
       4. Repeatedly press <ENTER> to choose the default options,
          unless you require special modifications to suit your needs.

       In most cases and for most users, this will be the quickest and
       simplest way to perform this important task.

       The default configuration will be :

       Minimal - 17MB
       First drive (usually C:) in \GAMES\NZ directory (under root).
       Auto-detection is used to choose your sound card configuration.

    b) To install NET:Zone for Windows 95, follow these steps:

       1. Load the NET:Zone CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
       2. Windows 95 will then launch the installation program
          automatically.
       3. Repeatedly press the 'Next' button to accept the default
          options.
       4. Boot your system in order to make the new settings available,
          if the installation program requires you to do so.

       The default configuration will be:
       Minimal - 15 MB. (If you do not have DIRECTX (tm) installed in your
       system, you will need another 3.5 MB.)
       First drive (usually C:) in \GAMES\NZ directory (under root).

[3] Custom Installation

  [3.1] Start

    a) To install NET:Zone for MS-DOS follow these steps :

       1. Insert disk into your CD drive.
       2. Change directory to your CD drive.
       3. Type install from your command prompt.

       The NET:Zone installation program will start now.

       To use the installation screens :

       * <TAB> through fields (or <SHIFT>-<TAB> to go back)
       * Select with <ENTER>
       * Enter text with the keyboard
       * Short-cut to field with <ALT>-<*HIGHLIGHTED LETTER*>
       * <ESC> to abort anytime
       * You may also use the mouse to choose fields or make
         selections
       * After each screen, confirm selections with <OK> button (or <CANCEL>).

    b) To install NET:Zone for Windows 95 follow these steps:

       1. Insert disk into your CD drive.
       2. Open the program folder marked 'Compro Games' and double click
          on the NET:Zone icon.
       3. Continue with section [3.5]

       NB: During the game you may switch between window and full-screen
       by pressing <ALT> + <ENTER>. You can do this only if the game began
       in 16 bit mode (65,536 colors) with screen resolutions higher than
       640x480.

  Following is an explanation of each screen in the installation
  process for MS-DOS.

  [3.2] Method

    The following screens appear in the installation program:

    * Minimal - 17 MB
    * Partial - 26 MB
    * Full -    50 MB

    The recommended installation option is full (50 MB). In this option
    there are no delays between different sections of the game, as all
    data is loaded at installation. The minimal option (17 MB) will
    require little disk space, but will result in a greater number of
    pauses to load new data between sections.

    After selecting the preferred option, press <Enter> to accept your
    values and continue to the next screen.

  [3.3] Path

    The screen is divided into an "available drives" list box,
    and a "where to install" text box.

    Available drives:

    The list box will display all available logical drives
    with type (Hard, Network) and disk space available on
    each drive.

    Select the desired drive in the available drives list box
    by choosing the list box and using the <UP>,<DOWN> buttons.
    Then press <ENTER> to move to the "Where to install" text box.

    You can use the scroll bar to see more drives if they don't
    fit the list box.

    Where to install:

    In this text box, type the full path of the installation.

    The drive is derived from the selection in the
    "available drives" list box, but it can still be changed
    by typing a new path.

    If you choose a path that does not exist you will be asked
    if you want to create it when you continue the
    installation.

    If there is not enough disk space on the drive you chose,
    you will be informed of this. If a previous installation exists
    in the path you chose you will be asked if you want to override
    the previous installation.

  [3.4] Progress window

    The progress window displays the files created, as well as
    a percentage bar indicating progress in percentage.
    If you press any key or click the cancel button you abort
    the installation.

    If the installation has been successful up till now, the sound
    installation program will begin.

  Following is an explanation of each screen in the installation
  process for Windows 95:

  [3.5] DIRECTX (tm)

    NET:Zone for Windows 95 uses Microsoft's DIRECTX (tm). This screen
    asks you to specify whether it is necessary to install the drivers
    or skip the installation if they previously exist:

      * Do not install DIRECTX (tm) if the drivers exist on your system
        (recommended).
        OR -
      * Install DIRECTX (tm) even if the drivers already exist on your
        system.

  [3.6] Path

    This screen is used to specify the installation directory in
    which NET:Zone files will be installed. After specifying values,
    or accepting the defaults, press <Next> to continue to the next
    screen.

  [3.7] Method

    The following screens appear in the installation program:

      * Minimal - 15 MB
      * Partial - 24 MB
      * Full -    48 MB

    (If you do not have DIRECTX (tm) installed in your
    system, you will need another 3.5 MB.)

    The recommended installation option is full (48 MB). In this option
    there are no delays between different sections of the game, as all
    data is loaded at installation. The minimal option (15 MB) will
    require little disk space, but will result in a greater number of
    pauses to load new data between sections.

    After selecting the preferred option, press <Enter> to accept your
    values and continue to the next screen.

  [3.8] Program Folder

    This screen is used to specify the program folder in which NET:Zone
    will install the program files.

  [3.9] Progress Window

    The progress window displays the files created, as well as
    a percentage bar indicating progress in percentage.
    If you press any key or click the cancel button you abort
    the installation.

    If the installation has been successful up till now, the sound
    installation program will begin.

  [3.10] Reboot Option

    This screen is optional and will appear only if the DIRECTX (tm)
    installation requires rebooting of the system. This screen is used
    to specify whether you wish to boot the system immediately or later.
    When installation is completed, the selection program folder will be
    displayed.

[4] Sound installation (MS-DOS only)

  The sound setup program may be initiated by typing SETUP at the
  installation directory. It will automatically begin after the game
  installation is complete.

  The setup program allows you to choose your sound card, and
  configures the game to use this sound card accordingly.

  [4.1] Supported sound cards

    Basically the game supports sound blaster and compatible sound
    cards, but has special support for the following cards:

     * PAS 16
     * PAS +
     * Sound blaster
     * Sound blaster 16
     * Sound blaster pro
     * WSS/Audiotrix pro

  [4.2] Sound card selection

    It is recommended that you autodetect your sound card by
    pressing the autodetect button.
    This will cause the setup program to highlight your sound
    card in the sound card listbox.
    The autodetection will also fill the PORT NUMBER,
    INTERRUPT NUMBER and DMA CHANNEL fields for you.

    If there are any changes you wish to make to the autodetected
    configuration, you can enter the fields using the mouse or
    the keyboard, and make these modifications yourself.

  [4.3] Sound testing

    When you are satisfied with the sound card parameters
    you will probably want to test it.

    Just press the TEST button with the mouse, or select it and
    press <ENTER>.

    You will hear the music played from your CD. (Do not forget
    to place the CD in the CD drive otherwise you will receive
    an error message).

    If you do not hear the music, check to see if the speakers
    are attached, or if the volume is low. If you still do not
    hear anything, check the mixer of your sound blaster,
    and see if the sound effects volume has been activated.

[5] Trouble Shooting

  [5.1] For Windows 95:

    Q: The game won't start properly, or if it does and there is sound
    without picture; or there is picture without sound.
    A: NET:Zone for Windows 95 uses Microsoft's DIRECTX (tm). You may
    need to acquire a DIRECTX (tm) driver for your sound or video card -
    depending on your specific problem - from Microsoft or your card
    manufacturer.

    Q: The game does not switch between window and full-screen when I
    press <ALT> + <ENTER>.
    A: Try starting the game in 16 bit mode (65,536 colors) and in
    screen resolutions higher than 640x480 (eg. 800x600).

  [5.2] For MS-DOS:

    Q: The game does not run properly, and/or there seems to be something
    wrong with the picture.
    A: Try running the screen test utility SCRNTEST.EXE in the game
    directory. This is a test utility which will try to configure
    NET:Zone to run properly with your display adapter.
