IMPROVING THE DISPLAY ON SOME MONITORS
On Disk Monthly senses the display adapter installed in
your computer and adjusts its display accordingly. The On
Disk Monthly menu system utilizes graphics. For this reason,
the CGA menu displays in high resolution two-color (black and
one other color) graphics mode. CGA users may press the
space bar to change the "background" color while running the
menu.

On some monitors, such as MCGA and LCD displays, the
display may not be acceptable. If this applies to you, use
the following start command(s) instead of "GO" to force a
different mode:

* For some LCD or monochrome monitors, type "GO /M"

* For some CGA and MCGA monitors, type "GO /C" Note for MCGA
customers: On Disk Monthly is displayed in EGA mode.
Since MCGA cards cannot support this resolution, MCGA
users will view On Disk Monthly in CGA mode.

* For some EGA monitors, type "Go /E"

MOVING AROUND ON THE MAIN SCREEN
You may select and run programs or other items with the
keyboard or mouse. Both will "behave" like they do in our
other programs and in most commercial software. Use your
mouse, tab or arrow keys to select Program Icons,
Departments, Copy/Info or Help--all on the left side of the
screen. Double click on a Program Icon (or press Enter while
it is selected) to run a program. Use the up/down arrow keys
or mouse to select an item in the Departments or Copy/Info
pick list. A program or other item is selected when the text
is highlighted. A pointer also appears when a program is
selected.

COPYING ON DISK MONTHLY
To copy individual programs or the complete issue, select
the menu's Copy/Info button, set the drive and path, choose
a file or the entire issue, then press Enter to copy or Esc
to exit back to the menu (cancel). Use arrow keys or mouse
to move to and set the following options:
* SET DESTINATION DRIVE - Allows user to choose the drive
that files or the entire issue will be copied to. Use arrow
keys or mouse to select drive (red when selected). If you
are running on a floppy system you may not copy to the
drive you are running from.
* SET DESTINATION PATH - Gives a default path (a new one
that will be created when Enter is pressed), but may be
changed by the user while selected (cursor will appear).
* FILES - Lists each program separately and entire issue as
copy choices. When chosen, a highlight will appear in the
list of files. Arrow up/down to or click on a selection to
be copied. Use horizontal arrow or mouse to exit FILES list.
* INFORMATION - Shows program/file sizes and the number of
files per program as user scrolls through FILES list.

MAIN SCREEN OPTIONS
A. Programs - Each program is visually represented by a
small icon on the left side of the main screen. When an
icon is selected (with the mouse, tab or arrow keys), a
description of the program and its features will appear on the
right side of the main screen. Click on the icon a second
time or press Enter while it is selected, to run the
program. Mouse users may double-click on an unselected
   icon to run a program.

B. Departments - The list of Departments will appear on
the right side of the main screen when you select the
Departments button on the bottom left side of the main
screen. Use the mouse or up/down arrow keys and Enter to
   access the Departments listed there.

C. Copy/Info - A list of Copy/Info choices will appear on
the right side of the main screen when you select the
Copy/Info button on the bottom left side of the main
screen. Use the mouse or up/down arrow keys and Enter to
choose any of the choices listed there.

D. F1: Help - A brief Help file will appear when you select
the Help button on the bottom left side of the main
screen with the mouse or keyboard equivalent (F1). This
file contains more extensive menu system help. Our
programs contain their own help files--files that are
typically printable (using a button, F-key command or
   your computer's Print Screen capabilities).
