If you're stuck, please write, enclosing a self-addressed envelope and a
stamp (or 4 international reply coupons) for our Time & Magik cluesheets.

PC TIME AND MAGIK HAS...
 EGA (Enhanced Graphic Adaptor) colour pictures;
 MGA (Monochrome Graphic Adaptor) black-and-white pictures;
 Picture compression;
 40- or 80-column text-only display;
 picture cache to avoid unnecessary disc loads;
 edit previous commands, by cursor keys and backspace;
 SAVE/RESTORE to disc;
 RAM SAVE/RESTORE in memory;
 UNDO (take back moves);

CONTINUOUS DEMONSTRATION. Just before selecting the screen format press
Alternate R. (i.e. type MENU and press return. Hold down 'Alt' and press
'R', press one of 'A' through 'H' then press RETURN.) You can suspend
the demo by pressing Alternate R.

COMPATIBILITY. The adventure interpreter on this disc also works with
Knight Orc and Gnome Ranger. Copy your original and replace AINT.EXE,
MENU.EXE and MENU.TXT by the new ones.

HARD DISCS. Time and Magik is supplied on floppy disc, but we are pretty
confident that it should work on other disc drives too. (No promises!
This is a free extra feature, so it's not a bug if the game won't work
on your peculiar disc drive.) Just copy the game, file-by-file, into one
directory.

DISPLAY MODES. Because PCs and PC clones are a varied bunch, Time and Magik
presents a menu of eight display modes. The following advice should help you
decide which to use:
* If you are using a television and want 40 column text, use mode (B).
* Once you have decided on a graphics mode, try the "fast" or "faster"
  alternative first. The "faster" modes should be compatible with almost
  all PCs and clones.
* If your PC supports EGA graphics, use the faster EGA mode (H). EGA
  colour graphics are not supported by MSDOS versions 1 or 2.
* If your PC supports MGA graphics, or supports CGA hi-resolution
  graphics, or has a Hercules board, use the fast MGA mode (E).
* If your PC only has the Monochrome Display Adaptor (MDA), use mode (A).
* Otherwise, use mode (C) (80 column text).

GRAPHICS. Many products only support one of the PC graphic modes; e.g
providing pictures if your PC has EGA graphics, but otherwise providing
a text-only game. But Time and Magik displays pictures in both of the
common high-resolution graphic modes: EGA and MGA.

Obviously, there is not enough room on disc to store two complete sets
of pictures, so the compressed graphics data is stored in EGA mode. If it
is displayed in MGA (Hercules) mode, the colour picture is translated to
shaded areas of black-and-white.

COPYRIGHT. Please remember that Level 9 games are protected by copyright
and take a long time to produce, so only make one copy, for your own use,
to keep only as long as you have the original game.

Happy Adventuring!
