Whether in a business environment or in the course of getting your personal
life organized, you probably often find a need to keep track of information in a
consistent format. Of course, you might use your PC to computerize it, using a
database program to keep the information you need. We've published some
programs of this sort in the past, and will have more in the future, for
tracking some form of information, whether specialized or general.

However, you're not at your keyboard every minute of every day, so there is
still often the need to enter the data on paper first, perhaps transferring it
to computer later. Or perhaps you must receive information from other people in
a consistent format, and they don't all have computers with which they can give
you the data on disk. In these cases, what you need is a paper form which
provides clearly-ruled spaces for all the necessary information. For instance,
here at Softdisk, we have a number of forms, including the order forms and
program submission forms that you may have already encountered, and numerous
other forms used internally in the process of evaluating program submissions,
processing orders, hiring employees, and the like. Much of this is
computerized, but it will likely be well into the next century before the need
for paper forms is completely eliminated at all stages.

FormKing lets you use your high-tech computer to generate low-tech paper forms
for whatever purposes you might need them. You can move around the file and
enter text like in any word processor, but there are also some specialized
features designed entirely for form generation. For instance, you can draw
lines and boxes anywhere you want.

FormKing is designed to work with a number of different printers, so that you
can print out your forms when you're done creating them even if your printer
isn't normally compatible with the IBM character set. Make sure you configure
FormKing for your printer before printing a form. If you select a printer from
the pre-configured list and your forms still print out incorrectly, you probably
need to change the character width. Go into the Custom Configuration section,
and run the test on this option to determine the correct setting.

There is extensive online help within the program to help you discover how to
use its features. When you first run FormKing, read the help screens in each
section of the program for descriptions of the commands and other information.

Forms are limited to 100 lines so each page of a multi-page form must be
entered in separate files. Load and edit the file TUTOR.FRM for tips on
creating forms. There is little space left on this disk, so you may be unable
to save your forms to disk on BIG BLUE DISK. Copy this program to your own disk
or select another drive and path for saving.

To run this program separately from BIG BLUE DISK, type ^1PASRUN FORMKING^0.
