                              PLANET OF THE ROBOTS

Welcome to the future! The freak time warp that picked you up in the
late 1980s has dropped you here in the 23d Century. While over two centuries
have passed, you should be familiar with much of what you find here. We have
shopping malls, subway systems, city halls. You might even find a bulletin
board system still operating.

Of course, some things have changed. The human race, for example, no
longer exists. (There was a nasty little war some years back, complete with
neutron bombs and biological warfare.) You aren't alone however; robots still
go about the jobs they were programmed to do. Of course, without humans, the
robots haven't been maintained very well. Some of the robots you encounter
will exhibit quite strange, and deadly, behavior.

By now, you should be convinced that the 23d Century is no place for
humans. While it IS possible for you to return to the 20th Century , the
journey back to the past is sure to test your ingenuity and imagination. Good
luck!

                            A TEXT ADVENTURE PRIMER
                            -----------------------

In text adventures like PLANET OF THE ROBOTS, the program uses printed
messages to describe your surroundings and situation. You interact with your
surroundings by typing in commands such as "GET RAY GUN," or "ATTACK ROBOT."
If the program does not understand your command, try wording the command
differently or try another approach to the problem. If you want to take a
closer look at an object, you can enter "EXAMINE," followed by the name of the
object.

In PLANET OF THE ROBOTS, you may also talk to the robots you
encounter by entering "CALL ROBOT." Entering "QUIT" will quit the game. The
program also has a "SAVE" command; if you save a game and resume it later, you
will begin where the last game ended. You can work the "SAVE" command into
your strategy: before doing anything dangerous, you can save the game. If your
action proved fatal, you can then restore the game and resume play without
having to start again at the beginning.

There is also a "HELP" command to use if you forget the other commands.

One last hint: as with most text adventures, making a map of your
adventures in PLANET OF THE ROBOTS will make your life much simpler.
