Memory and other Apps.
----------------------

If your machine has 8 Mb of memory, Rally Challenge should run OK, but only
if you aren't running any other programmes as the same time. This is a
pretty good rule to follow regardless of how much memory you have. We
recommend that you quit all other programs before launching Rally Challenge.

                               ----------

Extra Keys
----------

At any of the menu screens, press 'C' to skip to the next CD audio track.

Also, don't press ALT-TAB or CTRL-ESC to switch tasks. This version of
Rally Challenge doesn't like being minimized. Why you need to check another
app when you screaming through the forest at 200 KPH escapes me anyway!

                               ----------

Direct X
--------

Rally Challenge uses DirectX version 2. Version 3 will be out by the time
you are playing this, but we didn't get it in time to include it. Version 3
of DirectPlay is supposed to support Internet play, but since we don't have
Version 3 yet, we haven't been able to test it.

To get up-to-date info, check our Web site at :

http:\\www.iap.net.au\~sls

or the Roadshow page :

http:\\www.village.com.au

Look in the 'Interactive' section

We are hoping to add patches for 3D accelerators soon also.

If you are using the Diamond Stealth 64 Series(Diamond GT) switch to
Diamond Stealth 64 Video PCI drivers that come standard with Windows 95.
Again, Direct X v3 should hopefully fix this.

If you wish to restore your original windows drivers, use the DXSETUP.EXE
program located in the REDIST\DIRECTX directory of the CD.

                               ----------

Custom
------

Custom allows you to use your our recorded WAVS as pace notes, if you
don't like the ones we included. ( Or add a theme..like Beavis and
Butthead...Hu Hu Hu Hu). Here how...

- Get a collection of WAVE files together. They can be recorded a the
Sound Recorder app that is part of Win95. You should try to keep your
sounds short, and preferable at a sample rate of 11000Hz. Higher rates
will work, but take more processor time to mix and more RAM. Also, DO NOT
COMPRESS your samples. Copy your WAVE's into a directory ( the Sound
directory from your default Rally Challenge directory is a good choice ).

- Run the Custom app. Initially each pace note will point to the
sound directory on your Rally Challenge CD. Use Browse to point to a
different wave file, Reset Default to reset a note to the default or Cancel
to exit the app.

- Click on Apply to copy the WAVS you have chosen to the Rally Challenge
Sound directory. If there is an error copying a file, it will be skipped, and
the next note will be updated.

- When you choose Cancel, the current selections are saved to a file called
CUSTOM.INI. You can edit it with a text editor, if you really like.

- To reset all pace notes to default, choose Reset Default for all notes,
the put your Rally Challenge CD in the drive and Apply. Magic.

                               ----------

GOODIES!!
---------

Also, in the GOODIES directory we have provided a few bitmaps that can be
used as Windows backdrops. So don't let anybody say we don't care about
you.

Other Stuff
-----------

The first time you start Rally Challenge, you will be a message box that
says 'Could not load prefs..using default'. This is normal, and will only
happen the first time you play the game.

The music volume will not work with all CD drives. Its depends on whether
your CD allows software volume changes. You may have to set the music volume
through Windows.

Enjoy Rally Challenge. Or else.
