            NEWDATA

1. Do not try to install DOS on your
IBM version of Amber. There is no
room on the diskette for it.

2. TIP: Since there are so many
    different paths though Amber, you
may find it helpful to record
exactly where you are and your
    current situation when you SAVE.
    For example, the question you
are being asked, or some of the
decisions you have made on that
    particular track.

3. TIP: When talking to Amberites, it
is sometimes smart to press a
    topic to get more information.

4. When you see *********** appear on
your screen, it is a signal that
you have entered the Fencing Game.
Until the bout has been decided,
    only the fencing commands outlined
    in your documentation will work.

5. During the Fencing Game, the
direction of the feint is implied
by the specified direction of your
cut. For instance, FEINT CUT HIGH
    implies a false attack low,
followed by your real attack high.
Therefore, it is not necessary to
specify a direction for your feint.

6. If you prefer to play Amber without
    music, the command MUSICOFF has
been provided. You can type this at
any point in the game, and the
sound will be turned off. If you
wish to turn it on again, type
    MUSICON.
