promoted to the next rank. The game will contiune on and you can choose to
solve another case or stop playing for now.

Across the top of the screen are Option Menus you can click on and select to
Save the game, Quit playing, etc.

Gameplay Overview
After the game loads you can press a key to stop the Introduction Sequence.
Watch the screen and type in your name when prompted.

You'll be assigned your first case. Read your assignment carefully; each case
is different and you'll receive your first clues about what gender the
suspect is and where you will begin your search for him/her. You'll also be
given a time limit of how many days you have to solve the case.

Use deduction and common sense to follow the trail of the suspect. (An
Almanac and Atlas will come in handy here if you are unfamiliar with World
Geography and the things that each country is famous for.)

When you arrive in each city, gather clues by clicking on the magnifying
glass with the question mark inside of it. You'll be given a choice of three
different places you can visit in each city (Library, Airport, Bank, etc.)
and ask questions about the suspect. If you are following the trail
correctly, there will be a person in each location that will have some clues
about who the suspect is and/or where they may be heading next.

As you gather information, be sure to note it in the Crime Lab computer.
To do this:
1. Click on the 'Crime' computer icon at the bottom right of the screen.
2. The Crime Lab computer pops up and you can click on the computer screen to
make entries into the different categories about the suspect.
3. Highlight (click on) the item you wish to make an entry about. Repeated
clicking on the item will give you all the different options of what you
can specify about it. For example, if you click on 'Sex' the options are
'Male', 'Female' or nothing (blank, no info next to the word 'Sex'.)

After you have some information about the suspect in the Crime Lab computer
you can click on 'compute' at the bottom of the Crime Lab computer screen to
see if you have enough evidence to identify the suspect and issue a warrant
for their arrest. The Crime Lab computer will either issue a warrant for the
suspect's arrest (if you have enough data in the computer about them) or will
give a list of possible suspects that fit the criteria. If you don't have
enough info for a warrant you need to travel to more locations and try to
gain more clues to enter into the computer so the suspect list is narrowed
down to just one person who fits all the criteria. Note that you usually
don't have to have all the categories on the computer screen completed in
order to have a warrant issued. It depends on the case - so click on
'compute' after you have put a couple of clues in to see if it's enough.
You can hit the ESC key to leave the Crime Lab computer if you don't want to
enter any new data or 'compute' at this time.

You will need a warrant in hand before you finally find and confront the
suspect or they will go free and you lose the case.

After talking with the people in each city you should have some idea of where
to head next to follow the trail of the suspect. You can click on the 'See'
button to see a list of cities you can travel to from your current location.
When you're ready, click on 'Depart' and select the city you would like to
fly to next...
If you arrive at the new city and the people there say something along the
lines of "haven't seen anyone" and have no information to give, then you have
chosen the wrong city to 'Depart' to. Fly back to the city you left behind
and try to decide where you should have gone by following the clues the
people there give you.

Keep in mind that every time you travel to a new city or go to locations
within the city to ask questions, time goes by accordingly. Flying to distant
cities will take many hours so try to make the right choice before selecting
'Depart.'

You can click on the 'Dossiers' option at the top of the screen to read about
all the V.I.L.E. suspects; sometimes this information will help, especially
when you move on to higher rankings in the game.

After solving your first case you'll be given a promotion and be asked to
type in a word from the manual before you can get the promotion and continue
playing. DO NOT type in anything -- just hit the Enter key and you'll be
promoted to the next rank. The game will contiune on and you can choose to
solve another case or stop playing for now.
Any time you are due for a promotion and are asked to type in words from the
manual just hit the Enter key.

You can save your current game by clicking on the 'Game' option at the top of
the screen and selecting 'Save'. The next time you play, you can resume the
saved game by typing in your name as usual. You'll be given the option to
continue the game or delete it and start a different one.
