In 1790 following the American war of Independence, Great Britain steadfastly refused to withdraw it's garrisons from disputed frontier territories around the great lakes.
This, combined with open British support for the Miami, Potawatomi and Shawnee tribes against United States settlers who were pushing into Indian lands, caused the political situation between Great Britain and the United States to deteriorate rapidly.
Consequently, President Washington now prepares for war against the Indians of the North-West territories, and if necessary their British supporters.
Spanish expansion along the Mississippi river and their suspected intention of gaining Kentucky have also alarmed the United States, though relations between Spain and Great Britain are unfriendly.
