Secure in their secret alliance of 1808 with Napoleon, the Russians invaded the Balkans in 1809, supporting the Serbs against the Ottoman Empire. As a result the Ottomans have now allied with Great Britain and Sweden against the French and Russian Alliance.
With Serbia and Montenegro in revolt and advancing Russian armies in Bulgaria the Ottoman empire seems ready to crumble.
Napoleon had defeated Austria once again in 1809 but the war in Spain against the British and their Portuguese and Spanish allies drags on, bleeding his empire of veteran soldiers.
However by 1810, with Prussia and Austria humbled, and nervous of Russian successes against the Ottomans, Napoleon increasingly sees Russia as his next conquest and begins to plan its subjugation.
