  more warez to crack!

 Cracking the Game Connection is a bit tricky.  It will require several
 steps.

 You are going to need to add a little of your own work - the crack
 can't do everything.  First, you need to make a template with your BBS
 registration number (you can get that off the ABOUT screen on your BBS
 console).  This is a bit confusing, so I will show you what you need
 to do, using the registration number 39813692 (not a real number) for
 an example.

 Here's what you do:                           Example:

  1. Write down your reg

     of paper, spacing the
     digits apart a little.

  2. Circle the 5th and 7th                 3 9 8 1(3)6(9)2
     digits.

  3. Also write out 8 blanks                _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
     elsewhere.  This is where
     we're going to fill in your
     activation code template.

  4. The first character of the code        0: Y      5: W
     can be found by looking up             1: S      6: X
     the FIFTH digit of the                 2: T      7: Y
     registration number against this     ->3: U      8: S
     table.                                 4: V      9: T

  5. Write this letter on the first
     blank.                                 U _ _ _ _ _ _ _


  6. ADD the fifth and seventh digits      3 9 8 1(3)6(9)2

     This will be your SECOND character

  8. The third character is always A.       U M A _ _ _ _ _


        Now you have your template.  I have hacked the INSTALL.EXE
        to not give a crap about the digits.  It will find them
        for you and fill 'em in.  So your activation code won't
        really work on an original copy.  But just zero out
        the remaining blanks (i.e. UMA00000) and enter that as
        your activation code, and it will install on this special
        hackpatched copy.

        (Note: The whole reason for this hack crap is that the
        INSTALL.EXE generates a keyfile off of what you enter, so
        if I just disabled the whole thing, Game Connection is
        rigged to run improperly.  So I had to get at least part
        of the activation code so that Game Connection would install
        and not kick into "piracy-protection" mode.

        (If it went into piracy-protection mode, it would ignore the
        user's commands and then crash the board with a Btrieve-type
        error when he leaves Game Connection.)
