You may use it, free of charge, except for certain features outlined later which will only be available when registered. Rest assured, even unregistered, this game rocks! (See REGISTER.TXT for info on registering.) ***-=-******************-=-***-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-***-=-******************-=-*** THIS SOFTWARE HAS BEEN DEVELOPED FOR USE WITH WORLDGROUP BBS SOFTWARE ONLY. ***-=-******************-=-***-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-***-=-******************-=-*** Special thanks to the staff of CONNECTions BBS: 316-682-7346 Telnet to CONNECTions at: bbs.cxo.com ***-=-******************-=-***-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-***-=-******************-=-*** NOTE: I am *NOT* the sysop of CONNECTions, I am a mere user. You may also internet-Email me at wyndo@cxo.com, or visit our web site at http://www.cxo.com/lunatix. Have fun! ***-=-******************-=-***-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-***-=-******************-=-*** Setting up Lunatix 5.xx ----------------------- A) Unzip the LUNAT5*.ZIP archive into a temporary directory. Run the INSTALL.EXE program to have WG Lunatix placed into your Worldgroup/ MajorBBS directory. NOTE!!! Lunatix uses a custom install program which creates subdirectories called LUN5DATA (for Lunatix text files), LUN5ELEV (for IGM's), and LUN5DOCS (for documentation files). B) Use the menu tree editor to add "Lunatix" to your BBS. C) You must be logged on and IN Lunatix to configure the game now. There are no Level 3 and Level 4 CNF options now. To configure Lunatix, go into the game. When you use "B" from the main menu, to begin, you'll start out in "Your Room." From here type LUN CONFIG to configure Lunatix. This is also where you enter your registration (activation) codes. D) NOTE: If you use Mystic Messages and Lunatix as well, be sure you have version 2.2d (or newer) of Mystic Messages so the global colors won't interfere with Lunatix. If you run Lunatix on another machine, such as a game server, and BBS globals are still accessable, you MUST either tell Mystic Messages to NOT use global colors (in CNF options for the graffiti wall) *OR* turn the user's "BUSY" on when going into Lunatix. You will not have to do this if Lunatix and Mystic Messages reside on the same machine. Lunatix IGM support ------------------- Lunatix has been created for infinite expansion. Any number of add-on modules, called IGM's can be added to the game. We *recommend* only running about 5 to 10 IGM's, but there is no limit to how many the game will hold. It might be best to run the newest IGM's, and keep them if they're a hit... ask the players what they like. It can be just too much to have dozens and dozens of IGM's if the players don't like them and don't play them so it's best to just keep the most popular IGM's. The file LUNIGM.DOC has been included with the Lunatix IGM Kit which is distributed separately. This *IS* the specs on the IGM script language we have developed for use with Lunatix. If you don't have the IGM kit, write to wyndo@cxo.com for info on getting it. It's free! Most IGM's can be installed by simply copying all the IGM script files into your \LUN5ELEV directory (within your BBS directory). It is possible that some IGM's may require a different install procedure, but these should be pointed out with the IGM itself. Worldgroup must be offline to install an IGM. When it re-loads, Lunatix will automatically detect the new IGM(s) and set them up in the elevator. IGM's are very easy to un-install as well. When Worldgroup is offline, just delete the necessary IGM files from \LUN5ELEV directory. For example, to erase the Sigmund Freud IGM, you'd just DEL SIGMUND*.*. To delete the Crazy Bucks Quiz IGM you'd DEL CBUCKQZ*.*. IGM files should begin with the same 6 or 7 letters for every file in the IGM. When Worldgroup is reloaded and Lunatix initializes, the elevator will be updated with the deleted igm(s) gone, automatically. Custom INSTALL Program ---------------------- The INSTALL.EXE program we use is freeware. We developed it to install Lunatix, but it can be used for other installations as well. If you are interested in using it yourself, please do. Check out the INSTALL.CFG which is the installation script for Lunatix. All you need is an install.cfg customized for your own installation, and the install.exe itself. Note, this install program does *NOT* update CNF files. The "Update" command in the install.cfg script merely means "copy this file if it doesn't already exist" whereas the "copy" command says copy it no matter what. In case of problems ------------------- If you have any problems, please please *PLEASE* internet email me at wyndo@cxo.com. I *WANT* to get any and all problems worked out. Comments, suggestions, or just a plain "thank you" -------------------------------------------------- Lunatix is shareware. That's right. You may use it on your BBS before you pay for it. In fact, the trial period for Lunatix NEVER expires! If you have comments or suggestions or just wanna say hi, or thank you, you may write me email at wyndo@cxo.com. If you log onto CONNECTions, say hi to me. I'm "wyndo" online. (Note, I am NOT the sysop of CONNECTions nor do I have any sort of sysop access. I am a mere user, so when reporting bugs and such, be sure to write to "wyndo"). You may call CONNECTions at 316-682-7346 or telnet in to bbs.cxo.com. Also, visit our web site: http://www.cxo.com/lunatix for the latest versions, news, and so on. This site houses my normal BBS doors (non-worldgroup) as well as this and any future Worldgroup creations. Why Register? What does it matter? ---------------------------------- A) The authors, and CONNECTions BBS have invested a lot of time in this program, and we think your users will enjoy it. B) Players may obtain level 5 when unregistered. They may continue to play, but may not advance past level 5 to win the game. C) Players may not change thier names in the unregistered version. D) Money in the stash gains 10% interest each day when registered. E) Upgrades are FREE! Just find a newer version and install it and your current Lunatix 5.xx code will keep it registered!!! F) The player editor will not let you change money, experience, or skill level if unregistered. G) Ghenghis Khan the Loan Shark will only loan money if registered. H) The Elevator (IGM) option only allows 3 trips per day if Unregistered. I) You can use a key such as NORMAL to restrict some players from advancing past level 5 in case you wish only paying customers to take advantage of the registration. J) Other "register-only" features (some hidden features) are there. K) If the unlimited-user license ($300.00) is too much, take advantage of the 2-user license! It does all the same stuff, but only allows 2 users at a time in the game for just $150.00 (half price!) And, upgrade to a full-user license for an additional $150.00 at any time! Disclaimer/License ------------------ We have developed and tested this software on a test board as well as many live boards with multiple users. The authors of this software will not take liability for any claims that it has produced any undesired affects. If you install it and use it, you agree to assume all responsibility for its operation and performance. The only guarantee we make is that Lunatix for WG will occupy space on a disk. Specifically, CONNECTions BBS and its staff take no responsibility in the results of installing and and/or using this software package. In short, it works for us -- we hope it works for you. If it doesn't, we will not be held liable. The registration of this program, if you choose to purchase that (see the REGISTER.TXT file) is non-transferrable. It may not be given away, traded, sold, or otherwise shared. To do so is *illegal*. Thanks & Recognition -------------------- Thanks to Paula Stout, who kept me inspired when I wrote Lunatix 1.0a way back when. Thanks to the staff of CONNECTions BBS, Wichita Kansas, for providing the opportunity for us to begin developing for the Worldgroup BBS platform, and providing a thriving BBS on which to test and distribute our software. Thanks to Anna Kasl-Kissinger, my partner in developing Lunatix 5.xx. Last but not least, thanks to the many many users of CONNECTions for making extensive use of Lunatix, and for playing it consistently.
