OPERATION ................................................ 2 2.1 Resetting the game .................................. 2 2.2 Special SysOp commands .............................. 2 4. CONFIGURATION ............................................ 3 I N T R O D U C T I O N ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Ringmasters pits your users in direct man-to-man competition with others on-line. It is a fast-action boxing simulation where each opponent has unique abilities and advantages. Ringmasters is easy to play, but not easy to master. Brains as well as brawn determine who will take and hold a title. Each player has certain attributes (strength, agility, ect) and "skill points" to spend to enhance them. And as players move up weight divisions (by moving up in score) they are rewarded with more points. Tournament style, head-to-head competition and excitement will generate many hours of use, and profit, for your Majorbbs system. REQUIREMENTS: The Major BBS v6.0 or higher INSTALLATION: Simply insert the ringmasters diskette into your floppy drive and type A:INSTALL. 1 O P E R A T I O N ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.1 RESETTING THE GAME ----------------------- Ringmasters is especially designed for tournament play as users climb from the ranks of street fighter to heavyweight champion of the on-line world. Once you have determined a champion and given whatever bonus or prize you feel appropriate it's a good idea to start everyone from the beginning by erasing the current datafile (INFRMUSR.DAT) and replacing it with the empty one from INFRMUSR.VIR You can use the INFRMRES BBS utility under option 7 of the MajorBBS. This not only gives everyone a fighting chance for a shot at the title but generates increased use as players scramble to advance back up the divisions. 2.2 SPECIAL SYSOP COMMANDS --------------------------- Computer Contender Editor. You can create or modify computer opponents in Ringmasters from the "E"ditor option on the main Ringmaster menu. Keep in mind that while it's quite easy to create a computer boxer, it's also easy to make them too weak or too powerful (their stats) for the weight class you select. We've provided the guide below to give you a ballpark figure for the average stats a boxer at each level may have. For each weight class shown, the summation of their stats (strength, agility, will power, skill, and endurance) should be in the range shown. Of course, you're more than welcome to create exceptionally strong or weak fighters, after all it is your show! Points to add Division Average stat summation to defaults ----------------- ---------------------- ------------- HeavyWeight 406 140 Cruiser Weight 376 110 Light HeavyWeight 360 100 MiddleWeight 356 90 Welter Weight 326 60 LightWeight 316 50 Bantam Weight 306 40 FlyWeight 296 30 Street Fighter 286 20 You can use the following form as a template for creating boxers. It contains the defaults stats to which you can add the above points too. Name: ______________________________ Weight: _____________________________ Strength.... _39 Favored Punch..... ______ Atk Rate: ___ (1-100) Agility..... _39 Favored Location.. ______ Combinations: _ (1-3) Will Power.. _49 Favored Intensity. ______ Skill....... _39 Favored Defense... ______ Worth: ________ Endurance... 100 Strength, Agility, Will Power, Skill, and Endurance all function as they do for regular boxers. Favored Punches, ect. will not exclude that boxer from using other punches, but simply increase the % he uses that type of punch. Attack rate (a percentage from 1 to 100) is the chance each clock "tick" that a boxer will throw a punch. If you have a fast system you may wish to keep this lower, for a slower system you could up it. Combinations indicates the amount of punches a boxer may throw each "tick" (subject to the attack rate above). It superceeds Attack Rate in that first X punches will be thrown, then each punch will be subject to the attack rate % above. Worth indicates the number of points a user receives when defeating that computer opponent. Note, if the user is in a higher division than the computer opponent, he will not receive any points. If the user defeats a computer boxer on a higher level, he will receive 2 times the worth. 3 B.
