P S Y T R O N I K S O F T W A R E ------------------------------------------ Here we have the FULL versions of the three commercial releases which were produced and released under the Psytronik Software label. Psytronik Software was my attempt to move away from PD software and dip my proverbial toe into the commercial software market. It was only a partial success because although Sceptre Of Baghdad (or "Sceptre Of Bag-Head" as it's affectionally known by Me & Jon) was well received the updated SEUCK games which followed in future releases didn't do as well. (Although they faired well in reviews). The name PSYTRONIK is actually a bit of a pun. The company motto which NOBODY ever saw was "The quality of Psygnosis with the cheap prices of Mastertronic" ... Gettit? PSYgnosis & MasterTRONIC. (I just changed the last 'C' to a 'K' as it looked kewl. Hehe!) The Psytronik name lives on and so you may see some future C64 releases under that label yet (but don't hold your breath!!) As the three releases all utilise a disk menu there's no point in me including the disk contents here. Instead, here's the intructions for each game! ------------------------------------------ THE SCEPTRE OF BAGHDAD THE STORY: It was the first day of the year and the people had started to gather in the palace yard. At noon the beloved Caliph must show the sacred sceptre to prove his right to rule over the land of Baghdad. However, several hours earlier the Caliph woke up in his bed feeling very strange. Everything around him seemed to have grown bigger. Nervously he ran through the palace to the room where he kept his magic lamp. He climbed onto the table and polished the lamp until the genie appeared. "How can I help you, o master?" "Why am I so small? What has happened to my palace? What does all this mean?" asked the Caliph. After an oppressive silence the genie spoke again: "It seems that an evil wizard from a land across the great sea has conjured your palace full of demons and obstacles to prevent you from showing the sceptre at noon. He intends to divest you of all your power and become the Caliph himself". "What can I do? Can you help me?" asked the Caliph. "I am doomed to stay in this lamp" replied the genie, "but whenever I can I will try to give you some helpful clues and I grant you the power to fire magical orbs which will destroy some of the wizards demons." CONTROLS: Use the keyboard or a Joystick in port 2. Q or JOY UP : To make Caliph jump. A or JOY DOWN : Use entrance, use magic carpet, use or swap object held. O or JOY LEFT : To make Caliph walk left. P or JOY RIGHT : To make Caliph walk right. SPACE or FIRE : To fire a magic orb. F1 : Cycle through objects held. F3 : Toggle magic orb fire mode. RUN/STOP : Pause and unpause. INST/DEL : Quit game. 1 : Change filter of MUSIC or EFFECTS to suit your machine. PICKING UP OR DROPPING OBJECTS: When the Caliph picks up an object this will be replaced with the current object in the display. Use F1 to switch the object in the display so that it cannot be dropped. Up to four objects can be carried at any time. Some puzzles require more than one object. OBJECT OF THE GAME: Caliph must find the SCEPTRE OF BAGHDAD and walk with it to the palace balcony. HINTS & TIPS: LAMP: You can ask the genie for clues by using the hanky on the lamp. (It’s a good idea to leave the hanky in the same room as the lamp). When you think you have solved the clue, you can ask for another. POTION: During your travels you may find a potion. When you drink it, it will store that stage of the game. You can return to that position by selecting OLD GAME on the options screen. Please note that there is only one potion in each game. If you choose the OLD GAME option, there will not be a new potion. IMPORTANT: Make a MAP and list of objects and locations. THE END SEQUENCE: Once this has loaded you will have to enter the correct passcode which will be given to you when you complete the game! (Make sure you write it down!!) Sceptre of Baghdad was produced by Phoenix Software and is being distributed by Binary Zone PD on the Psytronik Software label. ------------------------------------------ ARCHETYPE & COPS III (The instructions were actually built in to these games but here's the tiny bit of blurb that was on the inlay):- The time has come to make the journey to the Otherworld ...
